Description
1963 Airline Rocket lap steel, string-through pickup, volume & tone controls, Roman numeral fingerboard markers, Kluson Deluxe tuning gears, 3 chrome adjustable screw-in legs, original fitted hard case.. "Airline" was the instrument and electronics house brand name used by Mongomery Wards for their department store and catalog. This cool and "futuristic" looking guitar was manufactured in Chicago by the Valco corporation, which wholesaled a wide variety of instruments, electronics and amplifiers to retailers such as Sears(Silvertone) and many other outlets big & small.
The lap steel is in excellent condition for its age, 100% original, only a few minor scuffs and discoloration - all its original plastic pieces and decals are intact and in great condition. What truly stands out about this instrument is its killer vintage tone and remarkably clear original pickup output.
This definitely a great instrument for those wanting to own a bit of retro-future history.
